The Rapture is our “modern vintage” design, with a satin finish bolt-on neck and a pearloid or tortoiseshell pickguard, and is available in four string and as 17.5mm or 19mm five string basses.
The Rapture’s thinner, racier design combines a single flat sawn hard maple neck and a solid soft Eastern maple body. This combination sets the stage for a classic sound enhanced by a smooth midrange and a bright high-end that cuts through even the most crowded mix.
Specially tailored active electronics bring out the Rapture’s unique tonal range. The single pickup Rapture (RB-SB) includes a master volume, and separate bass and treble control knobs (boost/cut +/-15db) which complete flexibility in shaping the sound. A mid-cut switch accentuates the Rapture bass’ gut shaking sub-bottom while emphasizing high-end clarity and growl and delivering vintage punch with an extra wide attack. The Rapture J2 (RB-J2) has two “J” style pickups for the classic “jazz” sound. The active electronics include master volume, pickup pan, and treble and bass boost/cut controls. The Rapture PJ (RB -PJ) uses a split pickup at the fingerboard and the “J” style at the bridge, adding more depth and versatility to the voice of the instrument.
The Rapture has a machined brass "barrel" bridge which imparts the more traditional sound we wanted from a bolt on. (The more massive bridge we use on the neck-through-body models detracts from the high-end in a bolt-on.)
The Rapture RBT is the same design but features a AA or AAA flame maple top and a 5A birdseye maple fingerboard.
