Peter Stephen is a great Luthier from New Zealand who makes electric bass, double bass, upright bass, guitar, mandolin, ukulele with more than 25 years experienced. He used to work at Lakewood Guitars in Germany and traveled to spain to see famous luthiers make musical instruments.When Stephen build a six or eight string electric bass, he take into consideration the finger style of the musician, do they want a fretless or fretted instrument, what kind of frets, the radius, fret scale and the appropriate timber for the body and fret board, the truss rod configuration etc.
It is not a quick, off-the-shelf process to have an instrument built to yours specification. He always begin with a conversation.
